Educational Psychology

"The path of development is a journey of discovery that is clear only in retrospect, and it's rarely a straight line."
Who do we help?
We see and treat children that encounter a range of difficulties in the educational setting. These include young people with academic achievement struggles, learning difficulties, attention and concentration difficulties, poor social skills, low self-esteem, gifted children with learning difficulties, autism spectrum disorders (ASD), AD(H)D, weak working memory and/or processing speed, transition and adjustment difficulties, and behavior difficulties.

Assessment
If your child is struggling academically and/or socially, or you suspect a development difficulty the next step may be an educational psychology assessment. Psychoeducational assessments often involve interviews with parents and teachers, classroom observations, and standardized testing. Once the assessment is completed, a report including detailed recommendations will be shared with parents during a feedback session. Often a meeting with school also takes place to discuss how your child can best be helped.

Treatment
Using various approaches we implement treatment plans that are practical, positive and tailored especially for your particular child and family. We use play therapy, IMH support and DIR Floorplay.

We provide treatment for the following difficulties:
  • Problems with attention and concentration
  • Working memory (including Jungle Memory program)
